Life is Short

I have a colleague who is an incredible writer, and I enjoy following her blog. Today she wrote a beautiful post about being a dog owner, and the final paragraphs really hit home:

I think that is one reason why I love Nola [her dog] like I do: she reminds me, every day, even when I don't show it or want to acknowledge it, that life is exceedingly short. We should take frequent breaks throughout the day to just go step in the sunshine. Drink some water. Observe our surroundings in nature with curiosity.

We should get excited about treats. We should give kisses. We should insist on being shown affection. We should comfort others when they are suffering. We should get excited when our people are excited. We should appreciate a soft blanket and a good nap.

We should not waste our time fearing the unknown. We should bark at it instead, giving it a warning that the unknown should fear us.

Thats one of the many, but most paramount, reasons for my Adventure: life is short. And all too often even shorter than we anticipate. What better reason for an Adventure?
