I gave a summary at the end of November after the first month of my Adventure and had intended on giving monthly updates ... but I got busy at the end of December (New Years in the Keys) and again at the end of January (skiing in Jackson Hole) so here is a (slightly delayed) end-of-February update from my half-way point in LA:

As of 2/29/2024 I have driven 11,280 miles and made it all the way across the USA to the Pacific Ocean. I have walked a mile in 22 states plus the District of Columbia:
Maine
New Hampshire
Massachusetts
Connecticut
New York
New Jersey
Pennsylvania
Virginia
West Virginia
Tennessee
Georgia
South Carolina
North Carolina
Florida
Alabama
Mississippi
Louisiana
Texas
New Mexico
Wyoming
Arizona
California
(And the District of Columbia of Columbia)
Many, many thanks to friends who housed me along the way, especially Barbara & Ray, Sharon & Jake, Michelle & Dave, and Kristen & Peter who have put me up (and put up with me!) for several nights on this section of my Adventure.
I had several on-the-road visits: Kelly came to Charleston SC, my kids and daughter-in-law met me for Xmas in Sarasota (while visiting Omi), the Jacques, Senks, Murray’s, Randy and Terry came to Marathon FL for New Years, Randy came to Dallas (coldest rainiest stretch of my trip!), I flew off course to stay with Michelle and Dave in Jackson Hole, and Katy, Kristen and the Giles met up with me in Palm Springs.
I had pet sitting jobs in Chatleston SC (3 dogs for 7 nights), Sarasota FL (1 dog and 2 cats for 4 nights), one dog in Dallas for 5 nights, and one cat in Albuquerque for 4 nights.
And I have now visited a grand total of 14 National Parks and 5 National Monuments:
Shenandoah ( Virginia)
New River Gorge (West Virginia)
Mammoth Cave (Kentucky)
Great Smoky Mountains (Tennessee)
Congaree (South Carolina)
Everglades (FL)
Biscayne (FL)
Dry Tortugas (FL)
Big Bend (TX)
Guadeloupe (NM)
Carlsbad Caverns (NM)
White Sands (NM)
Petrified Forest (AZ)
Joshua Tree (CA)
National Monuments:
Petroglyph National Monument
Bandelier National Monument
Sunset Crater Volcano NM, Wupatki NM and
Walnut Canyon NM (all near Albuquerque NM)

So far I still love not working, and have had a great time exploring my way across the USA. After mostly south and west tragectories I'm changing course and heading east starting this week.
Onwards!!!!!
