Dallas sure has been freezing cold! Yes, Thursday was an anomaly with 60° temperatures and a bike ride but starting Friday highs were in the 30s and a hat, gloves and jacket were a must.
Randy came to visit for a long weekend on Friday and we walked into downtown Dallas, did some exploring and got some amazing tacos. We decided that tacos and BBQ were a must when in Dallas!

On Saturday we went to the JFK Memorial – it was very moving to be in the place where President Kennedy was shot back in 1963. The museum is on the 6th floor of the former book depository building from where Lee Harvey Oswald fired the fatal shots. It's mostly informational placards and videos and not really anything to photograph/share.
After playing tourist we had to come back and take care of Nellie before we could go out for some Texas BBQ. Discovered the Bishop Arts area of Dallas - lots of restaurants and shops. Such good BBQ at Lockhart's.
On Sunday we went to the George W Bush presidential library which is located on the campus of SMU. It was really interesting – the younger Bush was president during some trying times like 9/11 and the subsequent invasion of Iraq. We got to go into models of the oval office and the situation room - check out the pic of whom the President had on speed dial on his phone.
We found a cool place called the Truck Yard where out back they have a place where there are tables in the beds of old trucks and lots of retro lawn chairs .... we ate in a covered pavilion with heat but I imagine this is quite a fun place when the weather is nice, the band is playing and you can sit out back in a truck.
More good BBQ in the Deep Ellum section of Dallas rounded out the weekend (best brisket ever at Pecan Lodge!)
Nellie's parents returned this morning and I'm saying goodbye to Dallas. I'll need to come back again some day when it's not so cold and rainy! Heading west in search of sunshine and warmer temps .....

Me. I'm on the former President's speed-dial!😀
