I really grew to love Boulder, Colorado and was sad to have to leave this morning. I started by repacking my car: put my skis/boots/poles back up top, took my bike tire off and stuffed the bike back in the car, and got all my clothes laundered and packed and put away. I set my GPS to Custer, SD and hit the road … ETA 6 hours.
I discovered that there’s a whole lot of nothing as you travel through Wyoming and South Dakota and saw more than one sign that said “next service x miles” … with the x being a number over 60!

So the only thing to see in Wyoming and South Dakota is grassland. And some herds of cattle grazing. And wind fences along the highway because it sure is windy here. That’s one thing that they sure do have us a LOT of: wind!
Speed limit is 80 and there’s no one really on the roads. Makes me wonder why they need a speed limit at all?
Most disappointing was as I got close to my hotel I noticed that there was a little bit of snow on the ground and by the time I got to my hotel there was distinctly a dusting that had occurred earlier in the day. I thought I had left snow behind in the Colorado mountains and I’m ready for spring …. only to find that it was 36° here in South Dakota. Yuck!
