02-February-2024. Truth or Consequences?

Today I drove from El Paso, TX to Albuquerque, NM and about halfway there I saw the town of "Truth or Consequences" and I couldn't resist stopping there to walk my mile - what a crazy town name!!!

I didn't expect much - it's just a small town in the middle of the desert but it turns out that it is the most colorful town I have ever seen! All the buildings are so colorful and there is lots of art wverywhere - how fun.

The final 2 hours of my journey I enjoyed watching a huge storm cross the desert in front of me – there was even a small dust devil (swirling dirt like a teeny tiny tornado) in the desert. The storm missed me but it was sure fun to watch. Oic doesn't do it justice.

The biggest challenge of the day was the "repack". I literally had to take all 3 suitcases and about 5 bags and my skis out of my car and into my hotel room so that I could get clothing and equipment from all the different sources and combine them all into a ski bag, a boot bag and a carry-on. The cart with which I hauled everything into the hotel was so overfilled it looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss cartoon. But the repack is complete and I'm ready to head to Jackson Hole, Wyoming at 6 AM Saturday morning to go skiing for the week. Randy has a friend from med school who has a condo in Jackson hole and has invited us there - I've never been and can't wait - my first skiing of the season - unless, like my Ikon Pass for 2023-24, you consider when I skied with Kristen at Mammoth in California last June. 😂

Since I'll be skiing, I'll be taking the week off from reporting on my blog as to my Adventure and whereabouts. I will check back in when I return to Albuquerque - if anyone has any suggestions on things to see/do in Albuquerque or Santa Fe (other than Georgia OKeefe which is already on my radar) please text me!

WILD Idea: have the right equipment for the job. Just got a new travel bag that has a loop to slip over a carry-on handle and also has lots of zippers and compartments and is waterproof and rip-proof - I LOVE IT! My old bag was falling apart and I'm so excited for this new one. Just like proper clothing and equipment for sports - makes your like do much easier and better!
