It was a week of transformation here in Dublin Ohio!

The friends for whom I was dog sitting are going to be putting their house on the market. Their amazing neighbors Kurt and Judy worked with me to help transform their yard so that the homeowners can focus on sorting and packing all their personal things inside the house when they return - no more need for them to worry about the yard.

We worked tirelessly every day. There were flowers and bushes to be purchased, large mulch beds that needed edging and weeding, a back deck, patio, front walk and driveway that all required intensive power washing, bushes that needed trimming and lawn that needed mowing. I thought I would only have neighbor help over the weekend but Kurt is currently between jobs and Judy’s hours are flexible so they were both here many hours every day working alongside me. And if I go say do, it’s been an amazing transformation and the yard looks fantastic.

Below are some pictures of “before and after” so u can see for yourself:

It’s crazy how much of a difference power washing makes! Kurt started with the back deck and continued onto the back stone patio and then Judy attacked the front walkway and driveway. What a huge difference! I took the second half of the driveway shift which went until 9:30 PM when it finally gets dark here.

Over the course of this week my white sneakers got totally trashed. They were used to stomp down dirt after planting and for safety during power washing and there was so much dirty water kicking back from the power washing that I thought they were ruined for sure. But at the last moment I decided that if power washing works so well on surfaces I should try it on my sneakers! So I took them off and gave it a try and wow did it clean up my sneakers. I thought for sure it might tear the fabric but it didn’t and they came out looking better than ever. So good that the following day I actually sprayed my other sneakers with spray and wash and power washed them as well. 😂

And lastly there was fun! I headed to a beautiful metro park on Wednesday afternoon and took 2 multi-mile walks - one thru the woods and the other along a river. Lots of cottonwoods here which literally “snow” puffy white pollen. I also saw THREE BIG SNAKES! They got progressively larger but they were harmless – they were just crossing the trail in front of me and slithered off back into the woods.

Neighbors Judy and Kurt invited me to their place one night for dinner. Kurt is an amazing cook and made a delicious swordfish with homemade pineapple salsa – wow! We had worked up an appetite in the yard all day and it sure was delicious. Then Judy grabbed some homemade chocolate chip cookie dough and made some fresh cookies into an ice cream cookie sandwich. So delicious!

When my hosts Doug and Judy arrive back home on Thursday their neighbors came shortly there after with “ meals on wheels” - Kurt brought some incredible salmon, spiralized zucchini and red skin mashed potatoes along with a spectacular sauce. Another restaurant quality meal! And the 2 Judy’s had a good laugh that Judy P bought a pie from “Judy’s Pies”!

And fun!

On my final night, my little dog friend Sophie snuck out of her parents room and came into mine and stayed with me overnight. She is so adorable and I’m definitely going to miss her!

Looking forward to having the Whitings move to Msine this summer, and hopefully their neighbors will come visit us all there as well.
